대선에 불복하는 세력이 장악한 현 공화당은 매우 심각한 상황에 놓여 있으며, 미국의 민주주의를 위기에 빠뜨리고 있음. 결국 공화당의 쇄신은 당의 본질적 가치를 손상시켜온 극단주의 성향의 트럼프의 영향력에서 벗어나는 것만이 유일한 방법임(가능하다는 희망을 버리지 말아야 함).

 

정치적 의견을 표명하는 미국인들의 40%는 반대 진영을 악이라고 생각하고, 60%는 반대 진영이 국가에 위협이 된다고 믿음.
80% 이상은 현 민주주의 제도에 "중대한 변화"나 "완전한 개혁"이 필요하다고 생각함.

양진영의 요구를 반영한 선거·보안법은 2022년 최우선 의제로 다뤄져야 하지만, 이 법안의 통과에 필요한 초당적 합의는 요원함. 이런 초당적 합의의 부재는 미국의 민주주의 부패의 근저이기도 함.
